Amsterdam, 4 February 2021 — Land Life Company’s current planting season in Spain will wrap up in April of this year. At which point, the tech-driven reforestation company will have planted 980,200 trees, bringing their overall total of trees in Spain to just over 1.6 million on 1,750 hectares – that is the size of about 2,451 soccer fields and will capture an estimated 400,000 tons of carbon dioxide overtime.
Some other exciting numbers
Land Life Company’s plantings in Spain include:
“The arrival of Land Life Company initiatives and its forest recovery projects creating carbon sinks has been capital in the community of Castilla y León. They have helped to renew interest in forests and tree plantings, have created new job niches and opportunities for local rural employment, have energized the reforestation sector and also introduced technical trials and innovations to improve the degree of success, efficiency and work reliability,” said Francisco Javier Ezquerra Boticario – head of the Forest Restoration and Management Service – Development and Environmental Council of the Junta de Castilla y León.
Land Life Company plants trees specifically on degraded lands due to over-cultivation, overgrazing, urbanization and wildfires to have the most effective climate impact. According to a 2012 report by the WWF on forest restoration, Spain is “a country where more than 120,000 hectares of forest land are destroyed each year as a result of fires, resulting in the CO2 emissions corresponding to those of a Spanish city with 1 million inhabitants.”
‘’We strongly believe CO2-neutrality is what the world needs. At Bosch, we try to make a difference with our sustainable solutions. In addition, as the first manufacturer in our industry, we started a CO2-compensation program for our gas boilers in The Netherlands. It’s great to see how this initiative resonates with our customer. In just a few months’ time, Land Life Company managed to plant over 50,000 trees and reforest nearly 55 hectares of land with us,” said Jan Rijnen, country director of Nefit Bosch Netherlands.
Angelica Bercetche, the regional director in Spain for Land Life Company, enthusiastically explained, “We’re thrilled to be working with our customers and local partners to restore the land, and, in addition, bring resources and benefits to rural communities,” said Angelica. “While monitoring our plantings, we’re already encountering trees blossoming with fruit, deer nestled in the field and numerous bird species — all signs of a healthy forest in progress.”
