Why Plant Here?

Australia has more than 7.6 million km² of land, with natural growing forests that once spanned across the country. Since the 18th century, 50% of its native forests and bush have been replaced or are considered degraded through land clearing, overgrazing, mining, and urbanization.

Vast areas of degraded land have posed an enormous threat to the biodiversity in Australia, where 80% of flora and fauna are endemic, which means species are found nowhere else in the world. In other words, if a species is lost in Australia, it will be extinct worldwide.

Land degradation caused by climate change-driven extreme events like wildfires, agricultural clearing, and overgrazing from livestock has resulted in large parts of Australian land requiring human intervention to be healthy again, and this is where Land Life comes in.

Our focus is on restoring nature by building resilient ecosystems and healthy forests that benefit the climate, biodiversity and communities in Australia.

IMPACT & RESULTS

Benefits Beyond Carbon

CLIMATE

Increasing Overall Resilience

Our projects in Australia sequester CO2 through restorative Natural Climate Solutions (NCS) projects, and with longevity as a key focus, we aim to plant forests that are more resilient to future climate change issues.

BIODIVERSITY

Restoring habitat and building resilient ecosystems

By building resilient, functioning ecosystems with adaptive capacity to prepare for future climate scenarios, we restore Australian wildlife corridors, dispersal potential, species diversity and more.

COMMUNITY

Local knowledge and local expertise

We involve local stakeholders in our projects from the start, across all stages of the project lifetime. To ensure long-lasting forests, we seek to leverage/enhance the local knowledge and capacities and offer ways to benefit from the impacts.
