Why plant trees in North America with Land Life?
North America spans more than 9.5 million square miles (24m km²) with a broad diversity of forested lands from the Boreal Forest in Canada, the vast coniferous forests of the Rocky Mountains, to the tropical forests of Mexico.
Each of these unique forest types provides critical habitat for species, important ecosystem functions like cleaning the air, filtering water, and sequestering carbon, and provides benefits for people and communities as sources of livelihood, food, and recreation.
Sadly, land development and degradation, exacerbated by climate change-driven extreme events like wildfires and destructive insect outbreaks, have resulted in vast areas of North American forests destroyed or damaged. These forests need help to return to healthy functioning ecosystems.
That’s where Land Life comes in. Our focus is on building resilient ecosystems and bringing back healthy forests that benefit the climate, biodiversity and communities in North America.

Benefits Beyond Carbon
Restoring habitats and bringing back nature
Our projects include a diversity of native plants, designed to bring back the places that animals need most for food and shelter.
Local knowledge and local expertise
We involve local partners and landowners in our projects from the start, across all stages of the project. We incorporate local knowledge and capacities, bringing cutting edge science and technology to pair with information from those that know the land the best. We also work with the community, hiring locally when possible, as well as providing education and engagement opportunities for local youth and students.
Restoring ecosystem function and increasing climate resilience
We create designs that restore functioning ecosystems with an eye towards ensuring that our restored forests will be prepared and resilient in the face of future fires, and changing temperatures and conditions.
