Forests are vital to our planet’s health, absorbing CO2, supporting biodiversity, and regulating our planet’s climate. Yet deforestation continues at an alarming pace. The need for effective reforestation has never been greater.

Global pledges, such as the EU’s commitment to plant 3 billion trees by 2030, aim to address this crisis. However, traditional reforestation methods are often inadequate to reach this scale. These methods are labor-intensive, costly, and slow, with numerous barriers including a shortage of skilled contractors, limited equipment availability, and logistical challenges in seed collection and nursery capacity.

Land Life is at the forefront of combating this crisis with groundbreaking technology. Introducing the Tree Seeding Robot – in partnership with Continental Engineering Services (CES). Together with CES' dedicated green-tech engineers Markus Schnell, Jonas Degener, Martin Poettcher and Artur Pauls, we’ve designed a game-changing solution to make reforestation faster, more efficient, and more scalable.

Key benefits of Tree Seeding Robot include:

  • Advanced Seed Coating: Developed in partnership with Incotec the robots utilize specially coated seeds that are resilient to harsh environmental conditions, ensuring a higher germination rate. This means the ability to extend the seeding window by 2-4x

  • Reduced Seed Usage: Seed use can be reduced up to 80% compared to conventional direct seeding methods like aerial seeding which is crucial given the scarcity of high-quality seeds.

Tackle tough terrain: Imagine being able to reach steep slopes or remote areas. Our robots are designed to do just that, potentially opening up more than 10 million hectares of degraded land for reforestation.

Scale: By reducing reliance on nurseries, our technology offers a solution that can be scaled more easily. This technology particularly benefits tree planting on degraded plots with gradients over 15-30%.

Simplified Logistics: Our approach simplifies the logistics of reforestation by using lightweight, easily stored materials that integrate seamlessly with our delivery systems. This efficiency makes the process more streamlined compared to managing live seedlings, allowing us to plant more effectively and with fewer resources.
