Attractive Carbon Capture

Australia’s unique ecosystems are not just rich in biodiversity—they are also powerful carbon sinks. By restoring degraded land with native forests and woodlands, we can capture and store vast amounts of carbon while building resilience against climate change. This chart depicts the net carbon range our plantings have the potential to sequester across a 40-year period.

First Peoples Engagement in Practice
Our 2025 'Talia' reforestation project in South Australia offers a powerful example of First Nations co-benefits. For over 65,000 years, Talia was home to the Wirangu and Nauo First Peoples, a place of thriving ecosystems that sustained their way of life. Following European settlement in the 1850s, they were forcibly removed, suffering immense loss. Displaced and disconnected, generations have since sought access to their home and sacred connections to heritage and ancestors. They've witnessed the land's degradation and the threat to its unique biodiversity. Our Talia project will begin to restore that connection. Initial outcomes from the Talia project include access to the land for Elders to teach their youth cultural heritage and connection to Country, lost over generations. There will also be employment opportunities across the project including restoration land management activities. Land Life looks forward to continuing engagement with the Wirangu and Nauo First Peoples to deliver further positive impacts over the coming years.
Australian Carbon Reforestation Portfolio
Land Life has implemented 18+ carbon removal reforestation projects since 2019, managing large-scale degraded land restoration in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia. Our Operations Team is currently preparing for restoration projects in the pipeline for 2025 and 2026. The next two years will be Land Life's biggest yet in Australia - restoring equivalent to the previous six years combined.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does it work with registration and issuance of credits?
Land Life sends the details of your project to VERRA upon completion of planting. VERRA-certified independent auditors conduct a comprehensive evaluation of your reforestation project and validate the amount of carbon sequestration. VERRA then issues your Verified Carbon Units (VCU) valid for a 40 year period. You choose when to retire these VCUs.
Do you develop ACCU projects for the compliance market?
Yes, Land Life is the only nature restoration company in Australia that offers a choice of ACCU or international (VCS) carbon methodologies. Our first ACCU project kicks off in South Australia in 2025 (110,000 tCO2 to be sequestered!).
Do you manage restoration projects in other states of Australia?
To date our projects have been in Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia however we're looking to expand further into states such as Queensland and happy to investigate opportunities for land access where you're interested to work in.

We Partner Locally With

Want to plant trees in Australia, but don't need to invest in carbon sequestration?
Our South Australian 'Talia' Project offers CSR opportunities to build vital biolinks for vulnerable and threatened species, while mitigating climate change. This large-scale restoration project will restore habitat for furry Australian mammals such as bandicoots, wombats and bettongs, as well as threatened native bird species including the Diamond Firetail. Investing in this project will also provide meaningful social and economic development outcomes for the Traditional Owners of Talia - the Wirangu and Nauo First Peoples.

Acknowledgement of Country
We wish to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders as the Traditional Owners of the land, sea and waters of the Australian continent. We pay our respects to the ancestors and Elders and extend that respect to their history and continuous connection to Country. As our nature restoration work grows and flourishes, Land Life recognises their custodianship of culture and Country. We’re committed to engaging with First Peoples on our projects and to learn from their practices of sustainability and resilience that guided them for over 60,000 years. Sovereignty has never been ceded across Australia.
